Junior doctors strike

Junior doctors at the Whittington Hospital began a three-day strike on 13 March 2023, joining the biggest walkout by doctors in the history of the NHS.

Like other NHS workers they are calling for fair pay and better conditions in order to end the crisis in the NHS. We joined the picket to support their action.

Junior doctors are all those doctors other than consultants. They make up more than 40% of the medical workforce. They have suffered a real pay cut of 26% since 2008 when inflation is taken into account. Their union, the British Medical Association, is asking for a pay rise of 35%.
