Islington Keep Our NHS Public (IKONP) joined Labour councillors at a rally near the Whittington Hospital on 20 December 2023 to defend its maternity service. This is currently being considered for closure. Councillor Janet Burgess and Councillor Praful Nargund are shown holding the IKONP banner.

We are responding to a review of maternity services by the Integrated Care Board (ICB) that is considering closing the maternity unit at either the Whittington or the Royal Free. They say there is not enough money to fund urgently needed upgrades to both units. We believe both should stay open to provide users with care close to where they live.
