Keep fighting for our NHS

Islington Keep Our NHS Public (IKONP) braved the rain to join the Patients Not Profit rally outside Parliament on 26 February 2025. We joined other KONP members from around the country to tell Parliament to Invest in the NHS, not private health care.

We must keep fighting for a publicly-funded NHS, said the speakers. They included Prem Sikka, Labour Lord, Nadia Whittome, Labour MP, Richard Burgon MP, Labour MP, Imran Hussain Labour MP, Steve Witherden, Labour MP Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr,  Adrian Ramsay, Co-Leader of the Green Party and MP, Iqbal Mohamed, Independent Alliance MP and John McDonnell Independent MP. A delegation of UNITE workers from the Infectious diseases cleaning team at Guys and St Thomas’ hospital told us about their strike for a living wage.

John McDonnell, Independent MP, addresses the rally

All of us were united in telling Keir Starmer to invest in the NHS, not the private sector. The NHS model is not broken: it just needs to be funded to succeed and restored to its founding principles. It’s time for the government to listen to campaigners: private profit has no place in our NHS.
