Islington street stalls back investing in the NHS

Islington Keep Our NHS Public (IKONP) took to the streets on Saturday, 22 February to call on the government to invest in the NHS, not private health care companies. We ran stalls at the Angel and Nags Head shopping centres to distribute leaflets and postcards with a clear message:

Invest in the NHS, not the private sector

We will be delivering nearly 100 postcards from Islington residents to Keir Starmer.

The postcards say:

Private companies do not train doctors and nurses – they entice them away from the NHS. Giving contracts to these companies reduces the number of trained staff in the NHS and lengthens waiting lists.

You are trying to solve the waiting list problem, but you are making it worse.

Instead of giving money to shareholders, recruit more staff and buy the equipment we desperately need for the NHS.

You tell us you are NHS through and through, so put your money where your mouth is.
