Fight to keep what Nye started

Islington Keep Our NHS Public shared our campaign to Restore the People’s NHS outside the Screen on the Green in April, coinciding with a screening of Nye, the National Film Theatre production that tells the story of how Aneurin (Nye) Bevan founded the NHS. We handed out postcards and leaflets explaining why we must act now to restore our NHS.

We know the model of a universal, free-at-the-point-of-use NHS pioneered by Bevan works. The NHS founding principles were sound, but the steady privatisation and defunding of our NHS has led to the worst crisis and worst performance in its history. We must change course before the service collapses completely.

Our vision is based on the following 5 main principles:

1. A publicly provided NHS: end private involvement
2. An NHS funded to succeed – not defunded to fail
3. Respect, recognition, and decent pay & conditions for all health workers
4. Re-invest in public health & tackle health inequalities
5. Rebuild, restore, and expand our NHS

If you haven’t already done so, please SIGN OUR PETITION.
